Course Requirements: International students must complete the required number of compulsory and optional credits as outlined by the Ontario Ministry of Education to fulfill OSSD requirements.

Community Involvement: Students must complete a minimum of 40 hours of volunteer activities.

Literacy Requirement: Students must also meet the literacy requirement, which can be demonstrated through successful completion of the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test or an approved alternative literacy assessment.

OSSLC stands for the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Course and OSSLT stands for the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test. Both are related to the literacy requirements for the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD).

OSSLC (Ontario Secondary School Literacy Course):

The OSSLC is a literacy course designed to help students who have not been successful in the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test (OSSLT) or an approved alternative literacy assessment. It provides additional support and instruction to help students improve their reading, writing, and communication skills to meet the literacy requirement for the OSSD.

Students who do not pass the OSSLT by the end of Grade 10 or do not complete an approved alternative literacy assessment are required to take the OSSLC to fulfill the literacy requirement for graduation. Successful completion of the OSSLC will satisfy the literacy requirement and allow students to obtain the OSSD.

OSSLT (Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test):

The OSSLT is a standardized test administered by the Education Quality and Accountability Office (EQAO) in Ontario. It assesses students’ literacy skills in reading and writing and is typically taken by students in Grade 10.

The OSSLT is a key component of the literacy requirement for the OSSD. To graduate, students must demonstrate their literacy skills by passing the OSSLT. Students who pass the OSSLT do not need to take the OSSLC.

It’s important to note that the literacy requirement is a crucial component of the OSSD and successful completion of either the OSSLT or the OSSLC is necessary to obtain a diploma. Students who are unable to meet the literacy requirement may need to fulfill additional requirements or take alternative literacy assessments to meet graduation requirements.

Each course runs for 16 weeks and is covered within 110 hours.

Many courses at Toronto Imperial School require students to pass a final exam.

These exams are held at the end of a course under the supervision of an approved proctor. The date, time, online platform and proctor for a student’s final exam are selected by Toronto Imperial School.

All of the dates of holidays for Toronto Imperial School are indicated on the online platform in a study guide for students.
